When should i take my babys pacifier away?

My son is 2 months old & i give it to him once in a while when he gets really fussy and sometimes to sleep him but i want to start giving it to him when ever he wants to suck on something and hes not hungry...so when he gets addicted to it i want to know when to take it from him? does it really give them ear infections?
